Espen Rasmussen - urodzony 4 lutego 1976 roku, mieszka w Nesodden, opodal Oslo w Norwegii. Fotograf niezależny, pracuje jako fotoedytor dla największego norweskiego tygodnika informacyjnego VG Helg. Wielokrotnie nagradzany, otrzymał trzykrotnie nagrodę World Press Photo.

Cały czas pracuje nad własnymi projektami. Skupia się na tematach humanitarnych i wyzwaniach związanych ze zmianami klimatu, dokumentuje konflikty na całym świecie. Jego prace obejmują zdjęcia wykonane w Afganistanie, Demokratycznej Republice Konga, Gruzji, Jemenie, Libanie, Somalii, Iranie, i wielu innych krajach. Obecnie jest reprezentowany przez Panos Pictures, jest również członkiem agencji fotograficznej VII.

W 2007 roku otrzymał grant w w wysokości 60 000 dolarów od Freedom of Expression Foundation na kontynuację długoterminowego projektu dotyczącego uchodźców i przesiedleńców w obrębie różnych krajów na całym świecie. Projekt zakończył się publikacją książki pt. "TRANSIT", wydanej przez wydawnictwo Dewi Lewis w 2011 oraz dużą wystawą w Centrum Pokojowej Nagrody Nobla w Oslo. Pracował nad kilkoma ważnymi projektami długoterminowymi, między innymi "Hard.Land" - o tym co się stało z amerykańską klasą średnią. Obeznie realizuje projekt który dotyczy powstania skrajnych prawicowych grup i polityków w Europie i Ameryce Północnej - "White Rage".

Pracował dla takich magazynów i organizacji jak The New York Times, The Independent, Intelligent Life, MSF (Lekarze Bez Granic), NRC (Norweska Rada ds. Uchodźców) i UNHCR(United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees/ wysoki komisarz Narodów Zjednoczonych do spraw uchodźców). Jego zdjęcia znalazły się na łamach czasopism takich jak Time, Newsweek, National Geographic, Der Spiegel i The Economist, The Guardian, The Sunday Telegraph i The New York Times.

Fotograf otrzymał wiele nagród za swoje prace, w tym trzykrotnie nagrody World Press Photo, pierwszą nagrodę Sony World Photography Awards, kilka nagród Picture of the Year international (POYi), potem 44 nagrody w Norwegian Picture of the Year w tym tytuł Fotografa Roku 2015, 2016, 2018 oraz nagrodę główną Picture of the Year 2004 i 2016.

Espen Rasmussen jest niezależnym wykładowcą fotografii, często prezentuje swoje prace na festiwalach fotograficznych. Przez ostatnie siedem lat był jednym z trzech redaktorów / mentorów w Norwegian Journal of Photography (NJP). W 2011 został wybrany fotografem Pokojowej Nagrody Nobla i robił zdjęcia jej laureatów, a jego prace pokazało Noble Peace Center w Oslo.
